This lovely patient had never had aesthetic treatment before, so being entrusted with her very first aesthetic journey was a real honour 🥹🙏🏻 This patient came to me wanting to look refreshed whilst maintaining a natural appearance. “I always look sad, even when I’m happy.” This lovely patient felt that her appearance didn’t reflect how she felt and that she often looked sad, even when she was perfectly happy 😟 As we age, changes in the lower face, including loss of support from the fat pads, reduced collagen, bone remodelling and increased downward pull from the muscles around the mouth can cause the corners of the mouth to turn downwards, creating a tired, sad or unhappy appearance. For this patient, I treated the mental fat pad and perioral area to restore support and soften the downward pull around the mouth, helping her appearance better reflect the positive, vibrant person she is.✨ Treatment may involve a single approach or a combination of treatments, depending on your anatomy, concerns and goals. Marionette lines are rarely caused by just one fold or crease alone. A big contributor is volume loss through the lower face particularly in the area I like to call the “bow tie” (the mental fat pad, perioral and prejowl areas). As support changes over time, the mouth can begin to look heavier and the transition from the chin to jawline becomes disrupted with lines and shadowing.
